Old Arkansas Buildings

6/25/11
Joan wanted to take photographs of old buildings.  The problem was that she couldn't see them in time for Bob to stop.  Old buildings appeared in the distance and we stopped in Dennard, Arkansas to shoot the photos below.

The appearance was weather-beaten and overgrown in places.  Old, narrow train tracks appeared in places around the field.  The property is a used by a church at present and was a gift shop before that.

We just discovered the original purpose on a website located below.  See if you can guess what it was.

This strange structure added to the mystery.  What could it have been used for?

Train tracks are barely visible under the old weathered sign board.

This is the site of the current group at the old site:  http://www.thenewt.net/

t.n.t. is in the process of bringing the buildings back from the grave. Our church is purchasing the property and we have plans on restoring the buildings and making a prayer walk down where the old animal cages are and a couple cottages for visiting missionaries where the old snack house was. We have had the property since just about the time you took your pictures, so much has changed since then. We invite you to come again and take new pictures next year. If you know of anyone wanting to help a southern baptist mission church with such projects please send them our way. The church phone is 501-514-8535. The name of the church is The New Tabernacle but we shorten that to t.n.t.. We also plan on getting the train back in operation if we can find help and a train. Thanks again.
