Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, Tenneesee

6/26/11
Ryman Auditorium is a one of our favorite places to visit.  It was originally a church and became the original Grand Ole Opry Hall.  While the Opry has moved to another and larger location in Nashville, Ryman is still an attraction for shows.

This sculpture of Roy Acoff and Minnie Pearl occupy a central location in the Ryman lobby.  The two stars are immortalized in the Grand Ole Opry history.

We were fortunate to get seats near the stage in the lovable old theater.

The performance was "Always . . . Patsy Cline."  Mandy Barnett played Patsy Cline and Tere Meyers played Louise Seger.  A four-piece band backed up the women as they told the story of the warm friendship between a star and one of her fans.  The basis of the story is taken from the letters that the two wrote to each other.

Mandy Barnett belted out Patsy Cline's songs with impressive volume.  Tere Meyers added warmth and humor throughout minimal set changes that moved the story through Patsy Cline's career.
