Groom, Texas

June 3, 2010

Sign across the street from a gas station before we arrived at Groom.

Groom is located on the historic Route 66.   One of the most photographed landmarks on Route 66 is the leaning water tower that once advertised a local restaurant.  The tower was intentionally built at a tilt to get the attention of travelers.

There are three or four large silos on one side of the wide main thoroughfare.

One of the famous Painted Ponies stands in front of a business on Broadway.

Along Route 40 a 190 feet high cross can be seen from 20 miles away.  The truck, while closer, is dwarfed by the cross.  See more information at: http://www.crossministries.net/.
