Heading West on Old Route 66

 June 5, 2010
The Old Road
A look at the map from Gallup, NM to Seligman, AZ doesn't show all of Route 66.  It was replaced by US 40 but appears in places throughout the country as a separate entity.   Old Route 66 in Arizona appears as a loop that passes through Seligman, AZ and on to Needles, CA.  The copy of the Google Map shows the original route as it veers off of US 40.
(A) Gallup, NM  (B) Kingman, AZ  (C) Seligman, AZ  (D) Peach Springs, AZ  (E) Oatman, AZ  (F) Needles, CA

We took the loop into Seligman, AZ along the original road.
The road is a two lane highway that is relatively straight with little other than occasional farms between the towns.

Signs appeared along the side of the road that mimic clever pre-television advertisements.  Joan shot these signs as we traveled toward Seligman, AZ.
